Finding balance as a business owner

Isn't it amazing being a small business owner!! It's rewarding and challenging all at the same time. At times you feel like giving up, everything can be going swimmingly well and then something happens and you feel like throwing in the towel. You can feel that you are the only one dealing with these peaks and troughs, that everyone around you is incredible and so successful, that they have no issues as they always appear to be so calm and collected. Rest assured you are not alone and everyone has these moments.

Balance isn't just a luxury, it's a necessity. Take care of yourself and your business will thrive.

Over the years of running my own business I have learnt a lot of handy tips and tricks that have helped me to find a better work life balance and job satisfaction, that may help other small business owners.

Yes, running a business is hard work, but you can decrease your stress and get a good work life balance with a few tweaks! Below I share with you my top tips and tricks to save your sanity and increase your happiness as a business owner through healthy balance.

  1. Set boundaries: It's essential to set boundaries between your work and personal life. This means creating a schedule that allows time for both work and personal activities. Make sure you are not constantly checking emails or taking phone calls during personal time.

  2. Prioritise tasks: Make a to-do list and prioritise tasks based on their importance. Focus on the tasks that will have the most significant impact on your business and delegate tasks that are not critical.

  3. Take breaks: It's crucial to take breaks throughout the day to avoid burnout. This can include taking a walk, reading for half an hour or phoning a friend for a chat.

  4. Outsource tasks: This is something business owners struggle with but this is where I come in!! Learning to delegate can really help your business expand and thrive and accepting that you cannot do everything yourself is a giant leap forward. It will free up your time to focus on the things in your business that only you can do and the things that you enjoy doing. There are many things that you can outsource to a Virtual Assistant.

  5. Make time for self-care: It's important to take care of your physical and mental health. This can include exercise, healthy eating, getting enough sleep, and practicing mindfulness.

  6. Stay connected with friends and family: Don't let your business consume all of your time. Make time for friends and family and prioritise these relationships.

  7. Learn to say no: As a business owner, you may feel pressure to say yes to every opportunity. However, it's important to learn to say no to opportunities that do not align with your values or goals.

  8. Comparitonitis: Stop it!!! It will drive you crazy. Focus on yourself, your business, your achievements and your goals. Forget what others around you are doing, be proud of yourself however unnatural you find it. You are AMAZING 💖

Finding balance as a business owner is essential for your well-being and the long-term success of your business. By setting boundaries, prioritising tasks, taking breaks, outsourcing tasks, practicing self-care, staying connected with friends and family, learning to say no, and not comparing yourself you can achieve a healthier work-life balance. Remember that balance is not a one-time achievement but rather an ongoing practice.

Finding balance may be a challenge, but it's worth it.
